    Assessing the relationship between Resource Budgeting and Project Management Practices among selected construction companies in Lusaka, Zambia

    This research delves into the relationship between resource budgeting and project management practices, unraveling their impact on the success of construction projects in selected companies in Lusaka, Zambia. The study encompasses a demographic analysis of participants, a reliability test of the research instrument, and a detailed exploration of resource budgeting practices, project management guidelines, and their perceived relationship with project success. Through statistical analyses, including correlation and regression, the study elucidates the intricate connections between these factors, offering valuable insights for the construction industry in the region. The demographic analysis reveals a predominant representation of managerial roles (65%), indicating a pivotal role of decision-makers in shaping project strategies. A diverse range of experience levels among participants enriches the study with varied perspectives. The reliability test, measured through Cronbach's alpha, affirms the robustness of the research instrument across all sections. Descriptive statistics shed light on positive outlooks regarding resource budgeting practices, and relationship and challenges assessments unveil perceived impacts and hurdles associated with these practices. Correlation and regression analyses reaffirm the interconnectedness of resource budgeting, project management practices, and project success. The implications for practice underscore the importance of structured resource budgeting processes and robust project management guidelines, emphasizing the need for effective communication and risk assessments. The findings contribute to existing research by providing empirical insights into the unique context of Lusaka's construction industry. The recommendations emanating from the study advise companies to enhance resource budgeting practices, strengthen project management guidelines, and address identified challenges through innovative financing, strategic partnerships, and investments in training and development programs.
